In addition to the requirements for productivity and quality, foreign partners are increasingly placing more requirements related to labour, society and environment for suppliers. This trend is being boosted by regulations on due diligence related to sustainability that have been enacted in a number of developed countries including the new German Act on due diligence in the supply chain which was adopted in July 2021 (effective January 1, 2023) and the Proposal for EU’s Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence adopted in February 2022. These regulations require businesses to proactively assess and mitigate the risk of violating labour, social and environmental standards across the supply chain.
In order to introduce and raise the awareness of enterprises on this issue as well as create a forum for stakeholders for sharing opportunities and obstacles as well as necessary support to actively implement the due diligence process in the supply chain, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) organized a roundtable: Vietnamese enterprises and due diligence obligations in the supply chain
