The growth of the electronics sector in Vietnam takes place in the context of Vietnam’s strategy to accelerate deepening global and regional economic integration, notably, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). There are implications for labour and employment issues, which require close and effective collaborative efforts from governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations and other key stakeholders. In early 2022, the European Commission has adopted a proposal for a Directive on corporate sustainability due diligence with an aim to fostering sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour throughout global value chains. Companies operating in the electronics sector are expected to play a vital role in building a sustainable economy and society. They will be required to identify and, where necessary, prevent, and mitigate adverse impacts of each of their activities concerning due diligence and labour rights.
In order to raise awareness of the electronics companies and key stakeholders on the due diligence and labour rights, especially in the global supply chains in the electronics sector and create an effective forum for electronics companies (both multinational and national ones) to promote socially responsible labour practices, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and International Labour Organisation (ILO) cordially invite your enterprises to nominate 1-2 delegates to participate on: Seminar on due diligence and business practices for electronics enterprises
